Timescale

This is the landing page for everything related to the timescales of constructs of interest.

To ensure the measurement of a process aligns with the theory and research questions we have, it is paramount to determine the timescale at which the process is assumed to unfold, and match this with the timescale at which we observe the process.

A process often operates at multiple timescales; for instance, affect regulation may occur from moment to moment, but also from day to day. You have to decide which of these timescales is of interest, particularly in light of your research question. This also implies you have to think about the temporal lens that is needed to observe the relevant fluctuations and changes that characterize the process.

Below we have specified multiple articles that help you consider the timescale of your process.

Determining the timescale(s) of your process

Understanding at what timescale a construct operates should help you decide on when and how to measure and model it.

Capturing specific events

The timing and nature of events may affect how well your measurements may cover them.
